I qualified as a doctor in 1994 and worked in the NHS for a year as a junior doctor and later on part-time, providing hospital locum cover in various specialties. Since 1994 I have been exploring the field of complementary and alternative medicine (CAMS) and decided to re-train as a medical herbalist with The College of Phytotherapy. In 1996, I took some time out to treat my own chronic fatigue. This enabled me to explore many therapies from the client’s perspective and gave me time to gain much valuable life experience. I gained my Diploma in Herbal Medicine in 2003, and also have professional qualifications in Aromatherapy and Massage from The Institute of Traditional Herbal Medicine and Aromatherapy. I returned to hospital medicine in 2006 with the intention of training in General Practice. I still see private clients occasionally and I am happy to refer on to my colleagues. |
